DESCRIPTION:Due to popular demand\, we’ve added a Sunday matinee: \n\n\n\nOn Sunday October 4th\, the DesBrisay Museum will be hosting a special matinee screening of “The Town Photographer” documentary in conjunction with the opening of a month-long exhibit of Frank Garber’s photographs\, artifacts\, and props from the film. Doors open at 1:30pm for a 2:00 screening. Advanced tickets recommended. \n\n\n\nTickets can be purchased online at connect2rec.com\, or in-person in advance at the museum. \n\n\n\nThe Town Photographer’ is a feature length documentary by Nova Scotia filmmaker Todd Langille\, spotlighting the life and work of longtime Bridgewater (NS) photographer Frank Elam Garber (1877-1964). DESCRIPTION:We will take our note picking from not-so-exciting exercises to simple melodies and learn how to add easy bass lines. \n\n\n\nAdd some chords and have 3-part instrumental music on the ukelele; it’s easier than you think.We will start our fall repertoire with Halloween monsters and Black Magic\, step up to 3-part harmony with classic songs from the 50s and 60s. We finish the session with classic Christmas carols. A new kit launches every month for you to take and make at home. \n\n\n\nJoin the Workshop: Drop in every 3rd Saturday of the month between 10 AM and 1 PM for a live\, hands-on craft demonstration. DESCRIPTION:Come and hear Steve Skafte tell tales from his latest book\, the harrowing and heartfelt Outskirts of Ordinary. It’s a collection of stories from locals who overcame the odds to become themselves\, evenly mixed with memories from his childhood. Since 2007\, he’s shared an uninterrupted daily journal on social media of his discoveries all over the province. He’s also been widely featured in national print media\, and on TV and radio. He’ll be signing copies of all his currently available books after the talk. \n\n\n\nEvent will run from 2pm – 4pm on July 18.
