DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Mi’kmaw History Month\, join us for a conversation with local Mi’kmaw Artist Barry Stevens. \n\n\n\nBarry will be visiting the museum’s Indigenous Gallery for an informal chat about Mi’kmaw Petroglyphs\, including his artistic interpretations of those found at Kejimkujik National Park. \n\n\n\nOne of his pieces is on display and part of the DesBrisay’s permanent collection. DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 20th for a book reading with Bryn Pottie\, author of the debut novel The Great Lunenburglary.  \n\n\n\nBryn Pottie grew up in the small town of Lunenburg before moving to Toronto in his late teens. There he experienced the local sketch comedy community\, as well as Toronto Fringe\, Just for Laughs\, and the Austin Sketchfest. In the mid 2020s Bryn returned to his home of Lunenburg and went on to write his debut novel\, The Great Lunenburglary\, as a love letter to his home. \n\n\n\nBook write up:  \n\n\n\nIn 1922 in Lunenburg\, Nova Scotia\, two teenage friends with dreams of breaking the mould of Maritime music find themselves entangled in the most daring heist in Nova Scotian history – stealing the Bluenose! SUMMARY:Wile Carding Mill - Rug Hooking Registry
DESCRIPTION:Members of Nova Scotia Rug Hooking Guild are registering rugs at the Wile Carding Mill to preserve a part of Nova Scotia’s Heritage. By preserving information about each rug and the person who hooked it\, the history and traditions of Nova Scotia are preserved as well.  \n\n\n\nAll mats must be at least 25 years old and hooked in NS or hooked by someone from Nova Scotia. Appointments are required in order to register rugs. Whether a rug or mat was used to keep the kitchen floor warm\, used as a blanket on a bed or to beautify the parlour\, simply for enjoyment or trade\, each has its own story.  \n\n\n\nMembers of the Rug Hooking Registry will be meeting with people interested in registering their rug at Wile Carding Mill Museum\, 242 Victoria Road in Bridgewater\, on August 23rd\, from 10 am to 2 pm.
