DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, May 24\, 2025\, for the 2nd Annual Lobster Luncheon hosted by the Friends of DesBrisay Museum Society. \n\n\n\nLunch includes lobster chowder or vegetarian chili with rolls or crackers and cookies for dessert. Tickets are $20 per person and meals are available for take-out or dine-in at the DesBrisay Museum. \n\n\n\nDoors will open that day at 11:30 a.m. and serving begins at noon. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of acknowledgement and appreciation! \n\n\n\nThe Town of Bridgewater is excited to invite the entire community to attend this year’s Volunteer Recognition Celebration at DesBrisay Museum on May 1 during the 2025 National Volunteer Week. \n\n\n\nThis year\, Bridgewater is proud to honour and recognize renowned volunteer Trudy Johnson as Bridgewater’s 2025 Representative Volunteer of the Year. \n\n\n\nA BIT ABOUT TRUDY JOHNSON \n\n\n\nTrudy has been an active volunteer in our community for many years and in many different roles. \n\n\n\nA former educator\, Trudy made a career of nurturing\, teaching\, and supporting youth across our region as both a teacher and principal. \n\n\n\nShe has been similarly enhancing and touching lives through her past and ongoing volunteer efforts. \n\n\n\nAmong them\, Trudy was co-founder of the Foundation for Youth Support\, a program for adolescents affected by addictions issues. \n\n\n\nShe has also served as: \n\n\n\n A board member with the Family Support Centre \n\n\n\n The Chair of Interagency Committee of Lunenburg County: Health\, Justice\, Community Services \n\n\n\n A Hospital Accreditation Team Community Member with South Shore Health \n\n\n\n Second Story Women’s Centre board member \n\n\n\n Secretary Treasurer for Autism Nova Scotia Lunenburg Chapter \n\n\n\n Board member and Chair for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore \n\n\n\nMost recently\, Trudy was a founding member and board chair of South Shore Hospice Palliative Care. \n\n\n\nWe invite you to share this message and to join us on Thursday\, May 1\, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DesBrisay Museum to celebrate the contributions of Trudy and other volunteers just like her who have given so generously of their time and their talents in the spirit of lifting up others. \n\n\n\nThe event will feature a short presentation followed by time to enjoy each others’ company\, along with some live music and tasty snacks! DESCRIPTION:The invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) is threatening our local forests\, but there’s hope!  \n\n\n\nJoin us for an informative discussion on hemlock tree conservation efforts in our region\, where you’ll learn everything you need to know about HWA. The session will be held at the DesBrisay Museum followed by a walk around the Duck Pond to observe these invasive pests in real time.
