DESCRIPTION:Guided demonstrations and interpretation on wool and the Wile Carding Mill will be provided by Linda Uhlman\, a long-time interpreter for the Wile Carding Mill museum\, to accompany the Powered by Water exhibit.  \n\n\n\nInterpretation will be offered from 1pm – 4pm every Thursday and Saturday from July 2 until September 26.

To keep games fair when large groups of children gathered\, many Victorian-era rhymes (like “Cinderella Dressed in Yella”). were used. Once passed from child to child\, these skipping rhymes are a beautiful part of our shared heritage. Jump into this tradition with a rhyme booklet from DesBrisay Museum’s new Curiosity Kits! \n\n\n\nGrab a kit available during any museum visit. A brand-new kit launches every single month. Explore during your visit or take it to make at home. \n\n\n\nJoin a workshop drop in for extra instruction or a live demo\, every 3rd Saturday of the month\, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

SUMMARY:Book Talk – Outskirts of Ordinary: Stories of Survival from Annapolis Valley\, Nova Scotia
DESCRIPTION:Come and hear Steve Skafte tell tales from his latest book\, the harrowing and heartfelt Outskirts of Ordinary. It’s a collection of stories from locals who overcame the odds to become themselves\, evenly mixed with memories from his childhood. Since 2007\, he’s shared an uninterrupted daily journal on social media of his discoveries all over the province. He’s also been widely featured in national print media\, and on TV and radio. He’ll be signing copies of all his currently available books after the talk. \n\n\n\nEvent will run from 2pm – 4pm on July 18.

Activities are inspired by our museum programming\, environment\, local history and culture. \n\n\n\nDive in two ways: \n\n\n\nGrab a Kit: We have awesome craft kits available during any museum visit. A new kit launches every month for you to take and make at home. \n\n\n\nJoin the Workshop: Drop in every 3rd Saturday of the month between 10 AM and 1 PM for a live\, hands-on craft demonstration. Stay for 30 minutes or the full two hours! No registration is needed. \n\n\n\nStay tuned to see each months Curiosity!
