During the off-season (September – May) we are open from 1pm – 5 pm. Throughout the summer months (June – August) we are open from 9am – 5pm.
We offer FREE admission year-round!

Please visit our Services page to find our Community Room booking form. Due to the current volume of programs and events at the museum, the community room is experiencing limited availability. We are sorry, but we typically do not accept bookings outside of open hours. Please contact our office if you have a special booking request. Booking requests take 3-5 business days to process.
Yes, we have two washrooms that are both gender neutral. One washroom is accessible.

Thanks for your interest in being part of the DesBrisay Museum Gift Shop! The Gift Shop is currently operated by the Friends of the DesBrisay Museum, a non-profit organization that supports our facility. The gift shop is now temporarily located at the South Shore Centre, 421 Lahave St, Bridgewater, NS. Please email or visit desbrisaymuseumgiftshop@gmail.com for open hours.
The shop is consignment-based, with 60% of sales going to the artisan and 40% to the Friends of DesBrisay. Please direct all inquiries to our Gift Shop Manager, Christine Bell by e-mail desbrisaymuseumgiftshop@gmail.com.
Thank you for interest in contributing to the museum’s collection. At this time, we are conducting a review of our collection and are not accepting additional items.
The collection rationalization process is to evaluate our holdings to ensure capacity for care and to enable us to identify missing or underrepresented narratives. These initiatives are to ensure the museum is reflective of our community.
If you have any item that reflects a story that is not a part of our collection, we welcome you to approach a member of staff. Our intention is to ensure that all peoples living in the County of Lunenburg are represented within the museum. The majority of our current collection reflects Lunenburg County’s Settler history. Stories or objects representing the history of our Indigenous and Minority communities are a priority.

Yes! Each year we put out a call for exhibit proposals. For more information, please visit our exhibits page for the application form or contact us.
Please fill out our research request form and e-mail it to museum@bridgewater.ca. All research requests are completed by our Collections Manager. Should you require an in-person visit, our Collections Manager will contact you for a mutually convenient time for you to come in. Currently, the museum does not have the staff capacity for walk-in research requests. For more information on research services, visit our research library page.
