Powered By Water: Stories of the Wile Carding Mill
Discover Bridgewater’s industrial roots in a whole new way!
Join us at the DesBrisay Museum for our newest interactive exhibit: “Powered by Water: Stories of the Wile Carding Mill.”
This isn’t just an exhibit, it is an experience for all of your senses! Come to look, touch, listen, and see why this is such an important piece of history. You can listen to immersive oral story recordings, watch a captivating projector display showing the massive water wheel in motion, and learn the inspiring stories of the women who worked hard at the mill. Plus, you can touch raw wool to feel the textures of early textile production and see authentic, historic tools from the Sebastopol area. An interactive outing for everyone to discover our community’s shared heritage!
Guided demonstrations and interpretation on wool and the Wile Carding Mill will be provided by Linda Uhlman, a long-time interpreter for the Wile Carding Mill museum, every Thursday and Saturday from 1pm to 4pm beginning on July 2.
This exhibit runs from June 27 until September 26.
