Out and About captures locations somewhere here on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Some images offer recognizable features; others could be anywhere. Some are true to one’s gaze; some are double-exposures. A couple are black and white; most use enhanced colour. And one is literally garbage!
Show runs until August 30th.
Highlighting Bridgewater’s many transformations through a series of archival photos alongside contemporary captures of the Town, this exhibit shines a whole new light on some of our archive’s most fascinating local pictures! The exhibit has been extended until September 6th.

Renowned local historian Peter Oickle will be hosting another slate of public Historic Walks for the 2025 summer and autumn seasons.
Peter is the greater Bridgewater area's resident historian, an excellent storyteller, and weaves together the intricate pieces of our community's famous and less-famous historic tales and personalities in a captivating way.
Whether you're new to town, a longtime resident, or a visitor in the area, Peter's Historic Walks are sure to entertain and educate!

Bring your acoustic instrument for a jam session at the museum! Free entry, donations are appreciated. Acoustic instruments only please. No amps, no electric instruments, no microphones. Musicians in a circle (no stage). Audience welcome.
We are excited to announce an upcoming fundraising event! The DesBrisay Museum will be holding a hybrid (in-person and online) auction to raise funds for the museum’s programming and events. Join us at the museum on August 15th from 3pm - 4:30pm for a musical performance in celebration of National Acadian Day! This event will feature a historic talk and traditional Acadian music by Hank Middleton and Collage! Hosted in partnership with the South Shore Multicultural Association.
Come Join us on August 16th at 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM for the opening reception for the Kids Art Creation Exhibition. All the art work has been created from the past few weeks at an Art Creation program put on by the Recreation Department and held at the DesBrisay Museum. The Exhibition will be open Tuesday to Saturday at the Museum until September 13th 2025.

Members of Nova Scotia Rug Hooking Guild are registering rugs at the Wile Carding Mill to preserve a part of Nova Scotia’s Heritage. By preserving information about each rug and the person who hooked it, the history and traditions of Nova Scotia are preserved as well. All mats must be at least 25 years old...
